Here is the latest update on Kevin. Thanks for continuing to pray for his complete healing!
Kevin worked hard today, he even sat up in an uncomfortable chair. We saw the speech pathologist and the physical therapist today. The physical therapist got him in the chair and left, but the speech pathologist evaluated him. She got him to write and discuss his job among other things. He was able to get his thought across with a little help and she was very encouraged. She says it is to early for a diagnosis, but he has a little receptive and expressive aphasia. That means he has a little trouble understanding (receptive) and speaking (expressive). The good news is that he knows he has the problem. Many patients who come out of surgery don't realize they have a problem which makes it much more difficult to fix. Kevin is extremely motivated to do better. He wants to keep talking and working on getting things in order. If he improves as much tomorrow as he did today he will be back in no time. One of the residents talked to Shanna and Kevin about a two week in house rehab program to expedite the recovery process, so I think we are going to look into it. The first 3 months are the best for a fast recovery and Kevin is ready to learn. All in all the best day yet.
