Five Years

Beautiful Brenna
Brenna and Daddy on her 5th BD.

Sweet little 3 month old Brenna, April 2004.

On Tuesday, April 21, we celebrated five years since Brenna (then Selena) came to live in our home. Initially it was a temporary emergency placement; but it only took a matter of moments when we placed our eyes on that tiny three month old (see picture above) to know that we wanted her to be a part of our forever family. Nine months following we changed her name from Selena to Brenna Michelle Woods, and six months following that only July 1, 2005 she became ours officially and forever. Thank you God for having Brenna as a part of Your forever plan for this family. We are so blessed. I can't believe how fast the time has flown by. I can't believe how fast she has grown. I can't believe how beautiful she is. I can't believe how blessed we are and how good God is. But she has, she is, we are and He is. She has grown. She is beautiful. We are so blessed, and God is so very good. posted by John

It Must Be Love

I left Monday morning for Paris, TX where I am speaking at a Children's Crusade. My five-year old Brenna has been begging, pleading, and bargaining to go with me for the last two days. She has come up with lines like this: I need to go daddy so you won't be alone and its ok if I miss my soccer practice and my preschool graduation pics and BSF and Children's Choir and two days of school (whew!). For every reason I gave for her not to go, she had an answer and explanation as to why she could go. The truth is that I wanted her to come to Paris with me. She is the consumate daddy's girl; and I love having her with me everywhere I go. Mommy was most concerned with daddy not being able to prepare for my crusade responsibilities each day if Ms. Brenna was with me. Brenna had an answer for that as well: I'll just bring my coloring book and color. Well, the drama turned very sad this morning with a tearful goodbye - for Brenna and for me. But as I drove away and embarked upon the 4 1/2 hour journey to Paris, I couldn't help but smile and think extremely grateful thoughts to have a daughter who loves her daddy so much that she wants to be with him everywhere he goes, no matter where he's going or what he'll be doing there. I love her that much too. I always want to be with her. It must be love. If I love my children this much, how incredible to think how much more my heavenly Father loves me as His child. Now that's love! posted by John

A Trip To The Zoo

Last week, we had the opportunity to take a trip to the Waco zoo with Brenna's preschool class. We decided it would be fun to take the whole family. We had a great time seeing all the animals and spending time with the kids. Here are some pictures from our day. I had lots more I could have posted, but for some reason, this blog will only let me load 5 pictures per post. If you know how I can fix that, please help me! Thanks!

The littls meerkats were my favorite. I could have sat and watched them for hours. Here is a cute photo of one sitting on top of this rock.

Wow, look at that elephant!!!

Cute Brenna in front of a slithery snake! Yikes!!!

Everyone with their lion faces!

John acting silly. I love the funny look on Bradley's face as he's looking over at his dad.

Easter 2009

Wow, I can't believe Easter has come and gone already! We had a very nice Easter weekend at the Woods' house. The girls celebrated Easter at their preschool on Thursday prior to Easter. They had a special lunch and a fun Easter Egg Hunt. We had a special church service on Good Friday. A drama was presented and then we celebrated the Lord's Supper, remembering the price Jesus paid for us when he died on the cross. I'm so thankful Jesus chose to do that for me! On Saturday morning, we had an Easter Eggstravaganza at our church, which included a huge egg hunt. Lots of fun!!! Easter Sunday morning, our music ministries presented a wonderful music production celebrating the Ressurection of my Lord!! It was fabulous! Here are a few family pictures of Easter!
